The 13 activities in this book provide a variety of experiences designed to lead students through the fundamentals of probability and statistics. These activities may be used to supplement your mathematics program. Each activity includes a teacher's guide; reproducible student activity handouts; sheets of cutout manipulatives, where necessary (suggestions for making a permanent set of manipulatives are included in the appendix); and an answer key, where necessary. It is recommended that activities be copied on colored paper and be kept in student portfolios.

Time: One or two class periods. Materials: Activity handouts (3), pencils. Grouping: Individuals. New Vocabulary: Bar graph. Directions; 1. Distribute copies of the activity handouts. Peeking at Presidents and the Presidents Chart (two pages). 2. Review instructions with students. Emphasize that students are to choose one category on which to base their study. 3.
