Our goals in this proposal are to gain a more complete understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate mucus production. Our aims are to 1) determine the mechanism by which CD4 Th cells stimulate mucus production; 2) determine how airway epithelial mucus production is inhibited by IFNgamma 3) determine the extent of inhibitory effects of IFNgamma on mucus production.
